Make those lists! The schedule has been posted for a while, so let’s hear everyone’s top five picks for this year’s Homegrown!!!

  1. 1) Asian Jon
    2) Walt Dizzo
    3) Mayor Ness
    4) Heiko
    5) Rich Narum

Oh, wait, did you mean bands?

    1) Puddle Wonderful
    2) Aaron Gall & the Collectively Compassionate Band
    3) Dirty Horse
    4) Sexhawk
    5) Emily Haavik

  2. Puddle Wonderful
    Sexhawk
Someone willing to pour that pitcher of Old Style over the mayor’s head
The preserves corpse of the Quizzard
    The Tisdales

  3. Elton John and Aaron Gall’s band! Not necessarily in that order. And Russian Bride, I heard one of them perform at the DAI at an opening, I loved their sound.

  4. Sad, they use my radio show to advertise themselves and no one cared to invite me … that’s OK … I talked to Freddy today and he said that I can come and horn in @ Luce when he performs.

  5. Healthy Band Music Club
    The Tisdales
    Lion or Gazelle
    Southwire
    Retribution Gospel Choir

(this is in chronological order – a handy mini-outline that will aid in preparing my nerdy index card schedule!)

I’m suffering extreme guilt right now over the bands I did not mention but do plan to see.

  6. Sarah Krueger, Whiskey Tango, Father Hennepin, Jason Wussow & Friends, Parr>Knifey>Turtles night – not in any particular order.

  7. I wouldn’t feel so bad, Dutch.

It’s like the New Orleans Jazz Fest … there’s so much going on at once, it’s impossible to see everything.

  8. Aaron Gall & the Collectively Compassionate
    Old Knifey and the Cutthroats
    North Shore Trio
    Teague Alexy
    Jason Wussow and Friends
    Tangier 57
    Dirty Horse
    Two Beat Band
Big Wave Dave and the Ripples

(Chronological order…missing some, more than 5, obviously (it’s that good). Not including the ‘unofficial’ events, like Knifey’s Hash Wednesday thingy at the All-American, or Soup playing ‘2112’ in it’s entirety at Bayfront. And of course, respectively not including gigs I or my roommates play in, for fairness sakes.

  9. Hmm, Teague Alexy and Dirty Horse are on my list. Then there is Freddie. I talked to him in the Skywalk yesterday and he said that he is playing at Luce — that’s really cool. Last year he was the best performer!

PS. sidenote @ Jesus – yup the Garden is all go … look for the baby salad mix! This Friday at the Chester Creek Cafe — and maybe other fine local eating places.

  10. Did I not also endorse “a must go to see” — the Tisdales and also Ret. Gospel Choir? They seemed to rock last Earth Day down at the Leif … among other places.

  11. I probably won’t get to see much, but….

    Russian Bride
    Fancy Hands
    Adam Sippola
    Sing! A Women’s Chorus
    The Crunchy Bunch

  12. Opal
    Freddie
    Aaron
    MANHEAT
    Opal

IN that order. Get on that, Homegrown scheduling committee. You guys are slacking.

  13. I keep forgetting there are bands playing. Hmm … five things I will see …

    5. Paul Lundgren giving Rick Boo money to keep it fair (which he does)
    4. Sexhawk
    3. Bratwurst (for eating at the Friday victory party … and the band)
    2. 7th inning bottle of Jameson
    1. Chad Lyons striking out Paul Lundgren for the victory. Go Friday … it’s one for the thumb!

  14. I can’t list less than 10!

    That charming little Aaron Gall
    Humanoid
    Knifey and his gang
    Manheat
    Batteries
    Keepaways
DJ Nola at the Roller Dames bout
    Freddie
    Retribution
    Father Hennepin

I’m now stressed on how to make it work!

  15. Looking forward to seeing myself back on the Friday night ROCKERS kickball team after having to spend last year on that dismal slack-jawed Saturday night rollers fiasco. It was like playing with a 2 dimensional cardboard cut out of a real kickball team. On top of that the “coach” did not provide any 7th inning booze. No wonder we lost.
