Postcard from Duluth’s Hotel Lenox

This undated postcard, published by E. C. Kropp Co. of Milwaukee, highlights some of the features of the Hotel Lenox in Downtown Duluth. The hotel was torn down in the 1960s.

The Lenox Place apartment building went up in 1979 on land to the southwest of where the hotel had stood. Kegler’s Bowling Center was built in 1986 on the former Hotel Lenox land.

The caption on the back of the postcard reads:

  1. At Lenox Place apartments? Well, Helen in 423 spilled tea and ruined a doily. Herb in 706 invited Marion from 302 over to play canasta. I don’t know … do you need a full report?

  2. After all, off topic is what I do best…
One cannot help but think of the Overlook Hotel. Shut off from all human contact until spring thaw. And they find the corpses. If only these was old times, and I could easily upload a picture of me with that frozen grin in the snowbank.
