Two days after the election I was walking through the dark streets of West Duluth listening to my headphones. The first random song that came up was Leonard Cohen’s “Democracy, ” which seemed pretty appropriate. The next song was the Boomchucks “It’s Good to Be a Rolling Stone,” which begins with the lyric, “We used to make mix tapes of Leonard Cohen.”
“Oh, shit,” I thought. “The old man is going to die today.” Sure enough, the news broke a few hours later.
But it turns out Cohen actually died on Monday, Nov. 7, the day before the election. At first I thought the prospect of a Trump presidency was all the poor crooner could take.
