I miss the Hacienda. I mean, I really miss it. I just want a basket of its chips, some salsa, a beer, and a cheesy something or another. When oh when will it come back?

I miss it too — I wish it would come back to another place with a cool patio, but without the noise from those big generators/AC units — whatever they are.
It seems Hacienda del Sol is indeed on its way back after being closed for over two years. On the Duluth City Council agenda for Aug. 12 is Resolution 13-0408R issuing a liquor license to Kevin Deutsch, Hacienda del Sol, Inc., 319 E. Superior St.
The notes indicate Deutsch intends to reopen the restaurant “by the end of October,” although that is an “optimistic time frame.” He needs to come to terms on a settlement agreement with the city for the $33,000 his restaurant owes in unpaid food and beverage taxes, utilities, property taxes and fines.
Deutsch told the Alcohol, Gambling and Tobacco Commission that his initial financial stress was caused by damage done to his building during construction of the Sheraton Duluth Hotel in 2006-’07, and then a kitchen fire in 2011 put him out of business.
Such great news for a Wednesday! Oh, I hope he reopens!
This is great news!!!
Good luck Kevin. Hope it is true. You have a great product and loyal following.
The city council passed the liquor license resolution unanimously last night.
There is a large sign in the window now that thanks the patrons of the restaurant and talks about reopening. Pretty neat.
The sign:
Looks like it’s a no-go for the Hacienda reopen:
Popular Duluth Mexican restaurant to stay closed
Does anyone know the current status of the Hacienda and the building itself? Is the owner still hoping to reopen? If not, is the building available for lease or sale?
