Glad to see he is home. A friend of mine had a black lab that was missing for 10 days in the winter. They live close to the Munger Tavern and we found the dog behind the Holiday gas station in Carlton. I should say we found her alive and well.
As for the other dog … ugh, probably lived near the Prairie Island Nuke Plant, where I’ve heard reports about giant rabid porcupines rushing into yards and rolling all over the small dogs.
Ugh. I Googled “dog porcupine” thinking I would possibly find the story of the victimized dog – but WOW does Google Images have a lot of similar and sad photos. I remember as a kid our lab came home with a muzzle full of quills, and it was no fun for him to have them removed – little fish-hook-style barbs. Ouch.

Oh man, poor poor dog.
And that must be a local dog, because it looks like the pooch has his/her legs and paws crossed in the typical “Upset Duluth” look.

The photo ended up in my e-mail and apparently was making the rounds on Facebook. I don’t know the story.
