Here’s the short version of things you need to know about the big changes at Perfect Duluth Day:

1) The PDD Calendar, which has been available in test mode for two months, will be launching full scale on Monday.

2) The editor of the calendar is Abigail Schoenecker, who can be reached at calendar @ perfectduluthday.com.

3) Effective immediately, PDD’s Blog Policies are changing a bit to discourage posting about events on the blog.

I believe in being an active participant in our republic, but I’m also lazy. My usual decision making process is to read the statements candidates submit to the League of Women voters, but it doesn’t look like the Duluth chapter is active (at least not this year, and at least not on its website). Does anyone know where I can find cheat sheets on the city council and school board candidates? I can find endorsements from labor and political parties, but I’m trying to make up my own mind … in the quickest and laziest way possible.

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve, encompassing land on the Wisconsin side of the St. Louis River designated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to promote research, stewardship and outreach of our freshwater resources, would like to announce its first community event!

Saturday, Sept. 24, is dedicated as National Estuaries Day and the Lake Superior NERR is celebrating by hosting a Kayaking Cook Out on Barkers Island in Superior.
