Has anyone noticed the new Park Point Sand Bar? (as I am calling it.) It was created by the the strong 50-60 mph winds a few weeks ago on The Lake side of PP. Very interesting. It will be interesting to see if it becomes a permanent or is a temporary fixture.

The “sand bar” off Park Point is actually made of ice – covered with blown sand. It will be gone as soon as it melts.
Nothing is permanent on the big lake.
There’s ice under the sand. Happens from time to time.
TopOfTheHillMan needs to go check out the bottom of the hill once in a while.
Arizona senator Jon Kyl caused this sand bar when he dumped nuclear waste there this winter.
This was not intended to be a factual statement.
I wonder if Jon Kyl is the shortest name of any senator or representative in U.S. history. It’s like he took the normal name “John Kyle” and cut out all the unnecessary letters.
Anyway, I digress.
Now I have a flashback to the post many, many, many years ago where the person was ranting about the corporations dumping their chemicals into the rivers and how it was causing the lake to turn brown.
Turned out it was just that normal run off that happens from time to time that turns big chunks of the water red.
The Sand Bar was an actual bar where Grandma’s restaurant is now … or where the Mickey’s Grill Annex is. Geologically that’s still Minnesota Point.
But that’s not all! There are all sorts of sand bars out in the lake…if you walk out, it gets deeper and then about every 100 feet out there’s a shallower sand bar. Someday one of those could replace the beach we know.
Little geology info,
Park point is the newest of a series of bay mouth sand bars that have formed over the years since the last ice age. Rice Point and Conner’s Point were once lake front. So looking at that ice/sand bar is kind of like looking into the future of the twin ports.

Raymond “Chip” Cravaack more than compensates for the brevity of Kyl’s name.

Jon Kyl sold the extra letters in his name for heroin.

and planned parenthood derives 90% of its business from performing abortions…
…according to Mr. Kyl.
