Clyde Iron Works announced Thursday that Rhymesayers hip-hip group Doomtree will be playing at the Duluth venue on at 9pm on Jan. 29. Tickets go on sale Monday for $16. This is the Minneapolis group’s second Duluth performance in four months; it played UMD this past September.
Also playing Duluth on Jan. 29, is singer-songwriter Martin Sexton. Sexton was originally booked to play Clyde Iron but the concert was moved to St. Scholastica’s Mitchell Auditorium a few weeks ago. Joanna Mosca is opening the show and tickets are currently on sale for $20.

Why did all the events originally scheduled for Clyde the Martin Sexton and Louie Anderson get moved, a falling out with Jade Presents or just a need for a different venue?

I’ll be at Martin Sexton, mostly because I bought tickets before Doomtree announced this show.
Maybe I can swing both, the Sexton show starts @ 8 so he will be on from 9-10:30, the Doomtree starts at 9 so after the 22 opening acts the headliners will be on at 11.

Why would someone spend $50 for a couple of concert tickets and then spend the concert texting?
Maybe the guy next to me was waiting for an organ transplant, and had to flash his cell phone in my face every couple of minutes in case this was his spleen finally arriving.
Is this just how it is at concerts now? In a dark theater, as the performer achieves an intense mood, you just have to tolerate a flash of light in your face and the ticky ticky ticky of the dip next to you saying “nuthin just at a concert” to his friend?
The Martin Sexton show was sold out and full of enthusiastic fans. How was Doomtree?
I don’t believe the Doomtree show was sold out, but it was great and attracted a lot of enthusiasm.
