This fall, the Encounter Youth Center in downtown Duluth is celebrating over 100,000 total visits from young people since opening in November of 2002. To celebrate this momentous occasion, a full mini-golf course will be set-up throughout the 38,000-square-foot, multi-level facility. Games will be offered free for all ages. The hours for the course will be:
Thursday, Oct. 7, from 12pm – 9pm (course will open after ribbon cutting at noon)
Friday, Oct. 8, from 5pm – 9pm
Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10am – 5pm

The next photo is from 1961, courtesy of the Northeast Minnesota Historical Center. So the story goes, there was an old steam house nearby where Rentola residents took saunas. …
