Glad you posted this, Ironic1. The kid was telling me she wanted to go to this, and I knew nothing about it. Hope it’s as fun as Shakopee, we spent the weekend there in August!
Very cool, thanks! BTW, Ironic1, the kid wants to be an actor at Shakopee, do you know anything about that? She was quite taken with the whole concept when we were there — which was fine by me, b/c the more time we spend at the Ren Fest, the less time at the State Fair (which, not being a native Minnesotan and all, I don’t fully appreciate).
The Minnesota Renaissance Festival holds auditions at various times – you may want to check with them to see when they are.
If she’s interested in applying for next years Olde World faire in Twig, you can go here: https://www.owrenfaire.com/Aboutus/Owappl1a.htm

THanks Bad Cat, that’s a good idea — much closer to home and thus easier for us to do.
The Twig Faire is much easier on my schedule than the Shakopee faire. In Shakopee, you pretty much have to dedicate your summer to every weekend at fest, and Ren school on the weekends leading up to it.

Yeah, I just looked it up. Of course, the kid wanted to do it this summer, but she’s already made some other commitments. So I told her next summer is more feasible, since we can plan for the time commitment it’ll take, not just for her if she’s chosen as a street character, but also the time commitment for her chauffeur (that would be me). I’d probably have to figure out how to be able to keep an eye on her too, helicopter mom that I am. It’d be a great experience, but I do like the idea of starting small — like with Twig. But we’re definitely going to the Faire next weekend, it sounds like a lot of fun. See you there, Bad Cat and Ironic1!

What?! I missed it?! Argh. I wanted to go to this again this year because we’re not going to the Shakopee one. : (
By the way, the last time I tried to open the Old World Renaissance Fair website my anti-virus software went batshit. Is that site safe or should the link on this page be disabled? I’m afraid to click on it.
Claire, way to be a necromancer! Especially on a 2 year old post! You should probably start your own post for the Chippewa Falls Ren Faire.
Paul, since the Twig Festival is not even going this year, I’d pull the plug on that link. No need to take any chances, especially for a defunct event.

It’s not nearly as big as Shakopee, but it’s quite fun. You can check out the map of the grounds and a schedule of events and here’s a map of how to get there.
