Is it Crazy Cessna Day?

Does anyone know what’s up with the two small yellow planes that have been flying over Duluth all morning? They are flying awful close to buildings, making a lot of noise, and don’t appear to be doing anything productive. Just wondering if you all know something I don’t.

  1. Gypsy Moth spraying, according to Facebook, and a coworker. I am never able to stay awake to see the 10pm news so I had no idea until I got on FB.

  2. That’s what we assumed too until we saw them flying close together, doing loopty-loos and seemingly spraying nothing over downtown Duluth. Maybe I just don’t know how spraying works.

  3. While I am not familiar with the practices of moth spraying, I know about crop spraying and many of the more advanced pilots do perform some fancy maneuvers that allow them to almost turn on a dime so that they can stay on their exact grid for spraying what they need to spray with as little deviation as possible.

  4. Christ. There are about a thousand people who apparently can’t read who are going whackadoodle about it on FB today. By the end, I just wanted to slap somebody.

Though I do wonder about millions of tiny flakes of polyvinyl chloride washing out into the lake and stuff. Couldn’t find anything online saying it was going to KILL US ALL, however.

  5. Not to be confused with jets (the sound of freedom,) what we woke up to this morning was the sound of sexual confusion (among young gypsy moths, anyway.)
