  1. Oh, so beautiful.

Mr. Emmadogs the birder was at Stoney Point today. He saw a boreal owl and took beautiful photos of a great grey owl, snoozing and watching. She is stern and beautiful.

One of my favorite memories is of my beautiful dog Emma and I finishing a trail run at Hartley at sunset. I glanced back and saw a beautiful owl on a branch against the glow.

  2. Here’s a new video of a boreal owl preening himself in Duluth, shot by Dale Bohlke.

My personal count for owl sightings this winter remains at zero, but I’ll spot one eventually, I just know it.

  3. I love the owl yawn and chop-licking move right at the beginning.

If the owl had a cup of coffee or bowl of wet-dog-food-breakfast, s/he would fit right in with the yawning/chop-licking at our house around six in the morning.
