Hillside Public Orchard Fall Community Events
Everyone welcome. Save the dates!
All “Weed and Feeds” this late summer/fall will be on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
Bring a snack to share, eating utensils and plates, and a chair or blanket to sit on. Dates are set but activities may vary due to orchard needs.
Aug. 21 — Harvesting and weeding, butterfly bed expansion (shoveling, raking, edging), and putting up fruit tree signs
Sept. 25 — Harvest Potluck at 12:30! Fall plantings, mushroom inoculation, put together the new cider press
Oct. 9 — “Hillside Public Orchard Cider Press Fest” (bring apples and apple treats and a container to take some cider home)
Oct. 23 — Plant bulbs and flag raising
Nov. 13 — Winterize garden, put up protective mural

I’ve driven by that space a thousand times. I can’t visualize what was there. Nice job with that space to all those involved.
Thanks Joel, I’ll tell the others who are involved. A long, long time ago it was a dump, then a parking lot in the ’60s? and most recently just an empty lot fenced and owned by UDAC. They use the space for fire drills.
