August 14, 1976 — Ol’ George Foreman couldn’t keep him down.

And he sent Howard Cosell’s toupee flying!

  1. When they count the 11 world champions LeDoux fought in his career, they always leave out the 12th — Larry Zbyszko.

I was at this April 20, 1986, match at the Metrodome, sitting in about the millionth row. Sadly, it was the night of what ended up being Duluthian Scott “Hog” Irwin’s last wrestling match. He died a year and a half later from a brain tumor. On the bright side, the night also included a steel cage match between Verne Gagne and Sheik Adnan El Kassey, as well as a concert by Waylon Jennings.

  2. Holy crap! I almost forgot there was a video promoting WresteRock — and it’s the cheesiest video of all time. The “WrestleRock Rumble” makes the “Super Bowl Shuffle” seem tight.

FYI, the video actually starts 30 seconds into this. For some reason there’s an excerpt from it and some additional footage on the front end.

Scott LeDoux makes his appearance at the 3:00 mark.

I think there’s one good laugh per three seconds of this video. Kudos to Stan Hansen for refusing to participate. I don’t think he ever worked for the AWA again, but it was worth it.
