St. Paul gets all up in Duluth’s craft-beer capital-proclaiming face

Better beer is in Duluth

A new billboard has popped up on Grand Avenue in West Duluth with fighting words issued from St. Paul. Duluth, many will recall, claimed the title of “Craft Beer Capital of Minnesota” back in February 2013.

According to an article by Duluth Mayor Don Ness in The Growler magazine, it’s official.

  1. There’s another #MyStPaul billboard up on Trinity road that reads “America’s Hippest ‘Hood.” If you need a billboard to refer to yourself as a “hip ‘hood,” you are most distinctly not.

  2. That’s a bit compelling, considering the president of Visit Duluth at the time Don claimed the title is the current president of Visit St. Paul. Nothing wrong with a little marketing spar between Minnesota cities over craft beer though – could be fun.

  3. Everyone relax, they just say they are the “Craft Capital” and use a beer photo. Maybe they do more knitting and macramé than Duluth.

  4. This controversy is now over. I have declared that my garage is the official Craft Beer Capital of Minnesota. I put my money where my mouth is and even made the large investment in craftbeercapitalofminnesota.com. Debate over.
